SUMATRA, Lake Toba-Bahorok Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Mes/ Medan – Prapat (L,D) overnight at Niagara hotel or Inna Prapat or similar. Arrive at Medan Airport. Meet and greet at the airport then start on Medan City Tour. City tour of Medan visit Maria Annai Velangkani, a catholic church with unique Indian characteristic, Maimun Palace of Old Deli Kingdom and Chinese temple. After the visit depart for Prapat-Famous mountain and lake resort on the east shore of the immense volcanic Lake Toba, is about 174km from Medan. En route, first hour pass by several small towns and then followed by fast view of rubber, oil palm plantations, paddy terrace, etc. Arrive in Prapat, check in hotel
Day 2: Prapat-Samosir Island Tour-Brastagi (B, L, D), overnight Brastagi Cottage or similar. Cross over to Samosir, a huge lovely island in the middle of Lake Toba, in 45 minutes ferry ride. Visit the Tomb of King Sidabutar and Batak Toba Village at Tomok. Then to Ambarita, a traditional village with ancient megalithic furniture in front of the traditional house. Depart for Berastagi via the ring road of Lake Toba. En route pass by pine tree plantation, the magnificent scenery of Lake Toba, fertile vegetable and fruit farms. Visit the ancient King’s Palace of Simalungun at Pematang Purba. Proceed to the slender Sipiso-piso waterfall which drop into lake Toba from hundred of meter height. Arrive in Brastagi, a refreshing mountain resort dominated by twi active volcanoes. Visit the fruit market and the traditional Batak Karo village. Then check in hotel
Day 3: Brastagi-Meda-Bahorok (B,L,D), overnight Rindu Alam hotel or similar
After breakfast, drive north-westward to Bahorok via Medan, to see Orang Utan center at Bukit Lawang in Bahorok village where Orang Utans are trained to return to their natural habitat. En route passing through several small towns followed by vast view of rubber and oil palm plantations with some countryside landscape. The road is still bad in some places. Arrive in Bahorok, start soft trekking to see Orang Utans habitat. Frist walk along the riverbank to the crossing point and cross the river to the Orang Utan rehabilitation center. Hike up the hill through the rain forest to see the activities of those illegally capture and young Orang Utans which are trained to return to their natural habitat. After visit, check in hotel
Day 4: Bahorok-Medan Airport/Departure (B), departure flight must be after 12pm. Depart from Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra via plantation road. Arrive in Medan transferred to airport for departure. Tour ends
